Anyone Flying to Visit Over the Holidays?

I was reading over the last few days about American Airlines and others canceling hundreds of flights each day due to bad weather and a shortage of employees. Passengers were stranded in many cases.
Then too, there seem to reports everyday of people assaulting crew members on planes over mask requirements or other stupid objections. By August, passenger fines had surpassed $1 million dollars and a number of passengers had been arrested.
All this makes me glad that no one in my family will be flying the turbulent skies this year.
Makes me wonder if the "friendly skies" are a thing of the past.

It isn’t that I’m afraid to fly. However, when it takes showing up three hours before the flight to the airport to get checked in, screened, deal with the shortages, etc. etc. etc., I’ll just drive. It only takes two and a half hours to get to Nashville, or half an hour shorter than it would take to have to show up at the airport.

Right, no sense in flying then at all.

By the way, as I was writing this today, "Come Fly With Me" came to mind and then I wondered if you have done a series featuring songs about flying? If not maybe you will?

@JamesHxstatic most likely--although I suspect that with so many cancellations, people will think twice

I'm guessing the planes will be packed without us anyway.

@JamesHxstatic All the European states that reopened without restrictions are seeing the new cases increase again. I am glad that here we are still obliged to wear the mask inside.

@LadyDuck I was just hearing about the increased cases in Europe. This virus is hard to get rid of.

I wouldn't want to be stuck in close quarters with people. I don't see how people are justifying flying during the pandemic. I've had my shots so, technically, I might be okay in such close proximity to people but I'm not willing to risk going into a grocery store if there are too many people in there.
People are just being too weird over wearing masks and getting their shots.... We stay home as much as we can.

@JamesHxstatic We do, too, but we go late at night so as few people there as possible.

@JamesHxstatic I won’t be out flying in any case. I think The Friendly Sky might be a thing of the past.

No, too much stress over the holidays to fly. Although I have flown a couple of times over the holidays. One Thanksgiving I flew and was stressed the whole time about making my flight. I also had a cold and the cabin pressure on take offs and landings almost made me scream. it was super painful, and then I went deaf for like 24 hours. I always remember that trip!

No one in my family will be flying for the holidays (or anytime soon). I'm not crazy about flying but now that the world has gone crazy I'm definitely not going anywhere.

Nope! Holidays are just me and my mom at home, and sometimes my brother or my fiance

These incidents I mentioned were all in the US. Some flight attendants got bones broken by passengers. I would fly nowhere for the foreseeable future.
