Long-toed stint visits our shores

One of the rarest birds ever to visit Yorkshire appeared just a stones throw from me a few weeks ago. There have only been four sightings of the long-toed stint in the British isles, with the most recent in Ireland in 1996.
This was a very rare opportunity to see this bird, which spends its summers breeding in Siberia, heading off to India, Indonesia, Japan and Australia during the winter for the warmer weather.
For around a week we had this super rare bird at St Aidens Nature Reserve, a former open cast mine in the 1980’s.
Have you ever had a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a rare bird?

It is a shame. We see some quite rare birds from time to time but none like this usually

He looks like what we have here..we call the ptarmigans.
I know he is not the same but all the same he does resemble those.
They are on the shores up North USA.
