My son and I have our Alaskan cruise rebooked but a seven day instead of nine. We leave August 29th and hopefully, this one won't be cancelled. So far, we will do the Rainforest Ketchikan canoe and Nature Walk. I'm not sure about Victoria, British Columbia but thinking the High Tea or some type of tour at the Craigdarroch Castle. On Sitka, I know we will do something where we can observe the brown bears at the Fortress of the Bears. Have you taken a cruise to Alaska or been to any of the places there?

I'd love to go on that cruise but I don't have the oomph for canoes. And Victoria, B.C.? Bliss and tons of walking. Sweet people there. We've stayed in a sweet bed and breakfast near the Craigdarroch Castle. That castle has such a steep staircase! I felt triumphant when I got to the top and looked out from the top. High tea is fun but you know what? There are wonderful tea rooms on every other corner in Victoria. Government street is your go to for touristy shops and yes, scrumptious Rogers chocolates. We have had a couple of Halloween ghost walks in Victoria. And carriage rides. Can you tell I love all things Victoria??

@noni1959 The gardens are not right in town. The big cheese idea is to go to The Empress and have high tea. I love those stately old buildings. My hubby and I went with the pricier route with the carriage ride: we bought a half hour ride all to ourselves. Totally fun and worth every penny to just be on our own in that carriage, riding through heavy modern traffic, behind a clopping horse, the driver yelling back at us about the various historic sights. There used to be fantastic second hand shops that sold sweet vintage china for cheap. The pubs with their individual chowders. Oh my.

@sallypup Oh, my. Your trips sound wonderful. I'm getting excited about the trip and will have to really look at what to do. Maybe it's the Empress high tea. You would think I'd know but we haven't booked those yet. Only paid for the cruise. He said anything I want to do. Long as he can get a lot of good photos. He isn't big on horses even though raised around them. The carriage sounds like something a friend and I can do in the future. I hope to see some of those old second hand shops.

The canoe is a large one with about 8 or so people to paddle. They will serve us clam chowder and i forgot what else. After, a nature hike. The high tea the ship is talking about is the same one the Prince (or something like that), would have with scones daily. I want to say it's at the castle or another historical spot. I need to look it up again. The tour will then take us up into town and turn us loose a bit to explore stores. Some tell me to do the gardens. How wonderful you've been there. Jake and I have talked about where we land and love, going back via plane and boat for other excursions like a fishing trip.

I've been on one cruise in 2011 to Mexico and Catalina. It was a lot of fun.

@Deepizzaguy They are. If the water isn't too choppy, the motion lulls one to sleep too.

A cruise to Alaska sound like fun. But I have never been there. I do plan to visit one of these days.
