Inflation is a Killer

Just when we thought we could get excited about the increase we will be getting in our Social Security checks to offset the more than 6% inflation rate we get the news that our medicare is going up more than it ever has in its entire history. Yes indeed, it is going from $148 to 170.10 a month. Ain't that grand!! Seriously, I sent off an email to my senator giving him an ear full. They are trying to pass a bill with "tree equity" in it while hitting seniors with the biggest increase in history??? How about a little senior equity? We worked our entire lives and contributed with the hope of being able to have a decent retirement. This kind of inflation is killing seniors. Combine that with the increase in the price of heating oil and there are going to be some cold seniors this winter. Well, now that have had my little rant I hope everyone is going to be all right this winter. We had a wicked rain and thunderstorm yesterday, Kasey and I were in the grocery store when it hit, getting the groceries in the car was exciting I have to admit, lol Enjoy your Sunday. The photo is the lake that Kasey lives on.

I wish they’d adjust Medicare so it couldn’t go up more than the COLA. I mean, the Medicare increase is 15% but the COLA is 6%, so you won’t see anything! What’s the point of even having a COLA? I got a note that said my FERS retirement health insurance is only going up $3, so I will actually get to keep most of my COLA next year. Wish everyone was as blessed in that regard.

@BelleStarr My mother was excited, when she got an increase in her SS check. They, deducted from my father's SS check! How did they benefit? They didn't.

Jay and I were just sharing about this, how the seniors who worked all their life will be living as paupers. And will the state representatives hear us when we rant about it? They more than likely don't even care Jay's retirement from the postal service was suppose to be $1,300. Instead he is receiving $300 per month! They are cheating him out of $1,000 per month, after working his behind off for years!

Yeah I saw that Belle!!! I was trying to tell my son, but he was busy doing other things. I was not surprised at this. It is a sham all of it. They give with one hand, and take with the other. The mark of the true beast it is. Genocide nearly of the senior of us. I adore that photo!! What a beautiful place Kasey lives.

Yeah, if not for medicade I'd be sol. I saw that the SS checks will have an increase of 5.9% as of January but in the mean time prices are skyrocketing in November and December .... why don't they give those increases in November????? Go figure. Wow, to live so close to a lake, I wonder what that would be like.

That piddly extra sum isn't even covering the rise in my insurance, dental and other necessities. I have my insurance and dental cobra'd. The raise in social security is eaten up by the raise in both insurance. Each time I get creative with saving money, inflation takes it. Yet, they gave all those people extra unemployment even when they could have gone back to work. There was no credits for us. It's like they want us to die out. It's sad but many are going back to work when should be enjoying life.

With all the inflation the increase that we got is not going to be even a drop in the bucket especially for those who do not qualify for any of the other supplement programs as some prices are going through the roof so to speak.
