Never buy from Snapfish! Bait and switch

You may know of an online photo company called Snapfish. You also may have read a recent post about deciding not to order personalized photo calendars for my family this year.
I decided they all use the calendars on their phones, so I was half way through designing calendars for next year and thought I would just order one for myself. Because I really do use mine, it's not just for hanging on the fridge.
I checked out Snapfish because their products were less expensive than VistaPrint, the company I've used for many years.
I finished designing the calendar and went to check out. The website excitedly proclaimed that photo calendars were only $6.99 with the discount code. I previously paid around $14 for them on VistaPrint.
Well, guess what. If you order them shipped to home, you pay much more for shipping than for the calendar. If you pick them up at a store, you get free shipping. But you don't get the discount.
So either way, you'll pay three times the advertised price of $6.99.
It took me two days to design them and two days of chat conversations with two different people to figure this out.
I'm so aggravated I could spit. I left unfavorable reviews at two places, to put it mildly.
BTW, that company and Shutterfly are owned by Amazon. I'm not surprised.
Anyway, I'm telling everyone I know not to buy from Snapfish. Trouble is, except for Walmart, where else is there to buy anything from except Amazon?

Walgreens also has a good photo department but, when we need something printed, if our printer can't handle it, we go to Walmart for it.

@1creekgirl Have you looked into buying ink from Amazon or from one of the places like Best Buy or Office Depot?

@DaddyEvil Our son is the general manager at Office Depot, but even with his discount, it's not much different than Walmart.

I used to print photos at home, but ink is so expensive that it's cheaper to print it at Walmart or Amazon.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, because local companies are affected more by word of mouth reviews.

I think it could be, or should be criminal. How are you feeling? Still healing, I hope.

@1creekgirl I've finished the antibiotics and just have a residual cough which the doctor said might hang around for a while. Thanks for asking. I feel SO much better than I did.

if I like to design myself, then use the print services available on the shopee marketplace. Lots of discounts. Especially during the 11 11 promotion program yesterday. Free shipping and get a discount, you can also pay using points you get from playing games.

bless yer heart, hon. seems amazon 'tis gotten too big fer 'ts britches, like many other companies these days. very limited options 'round these parts, sadly. i noticed that ms. carol 'twas kind 'nough to pass'n the company she's used'n the past. will keep fingers crossed the name change 'tis not due to the fact that they, too, were purchased by amazon.

I guess only the sharks and whales of this economy survive. We still shop at a small local pharmacy because they go beyond Walmart.

I'm sorry you had such a discouraging experience with them When my grandchildren were young I would get a photo calendar every year as a Christmas gift and I loved it.
I used to use Shutterfly all the time but didn't know they were owned by Amazon

I don't think it will be long before everything world wide will be owned by Amazon, Walmart, or McDonalds.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I just use my Printshop program to do the calendars. I place all the pictures and decorations on the top page and then print out a calendar page for the bottom part. I then enclose each page in a 3-hold punch vinyl pocket. It probably is much more expensive than what you're used to; but that's how I did it.

That's the strategy they use to attract customers, wasn't there any way you could know what the shipping charges were before placing the order.
