We need new address labels

For years, I had a collection of address labels sent to me by various charities. We also had some of our own printed by Vistaprint. Now, with Christmas fast approaching and the need to send out cards, we’ve suddenly realised the address labels show our old address and there is nothing for it but to throw them out. We went to Officeworks to get a couple of sheets made but the girl convinced us it was easier to do online from home as that way the sizing would be more exact. NOT!! Although we could get the address looking as we wanted, we would have to buy a heap of labels. We couldn’t get just one or two sheets. So, today, it’s back to Officeworks to try again. I need to get our cards out soon because some friends don’t know that we’ve moved. Photo of the yard where we bought our plant troughs from. The choice is staggering.

I use address labels on the few things I send via snail mail but, I had some printed up with out P.O. Box address on them so don't need to change anything. (Years ago, Pretty's mom kept stealing our mail from the box attached to the house so I rented a P.O. Box ever since. *shrug* The neighbors saw her but the police claimed they couldn't do anything about it... even though it should be considered tampering with the mail and that's illegal here.)

@DeborahDiane I don't know what she thought she was doing... But it caused me to miss a few month's worth of bills in the mail. I was busy with life and never realized I wasn't getting them until a collection agency called wanting to know why I hadn't paid something... I went looking and realized I hadn't paid bills in several months. I caught everything up and rented the P.O. Box and haven't had any trouble since. For years, she was always trying to do stuff to make life harder for me. Stealing my mail was only the tip of the iceberg... (It took seven years to get divorced from her. Her lawyer kept telling the judge we were trying to reconcile, so the judge kept putting off finalizing our divorce. I only found out she was having him do that when he put off finalizing the court case one time too many. I started crying in court and told him he was helping her torture me. I just wanted out of the marriage. He asked me why I kept trying to reconcile... I told him we'd never been trying to reconcile the marriage and he told her to sign the divorce papers... She told him she was going to drain every penny I ever thought about making through the courts... He signed the paperwork... and she kept taking me back to court for no reason until he finally told her if she took me to court without a valid cause again he would order her to pay for all costs incurred from every lawsuit from then on... )

@DaddyEvil - OMG! That is terrible that Pretty's mom was tampering with your mail. What in the world did she hope to achieve? It just sounds like petty vindictiveness. I think getting a P.O. Box was a great idea. Fortunately, in our retirement community, the mailmen have to walk from door to door, and we have a slot in our door, so our mail is safe from the crazy people out there!

We had a PO address in the country. Here, in the clubhouse, is a mailroom with all our 'boxes' in it so we have individual letterboxes but all in the same place.

Oh, this reminds me that we'd ordered address labels earlier this year for this place and never used them all up. Since we're moving shortly, we will be back around to ordering new address labels in a bit.

@JudyEv I know what you mean. My major reason to use address labels is to send out cards for various holidays throughout the year.

@wilsongoddard I could hand-write the address but as addresses go it's quite long so I thought labels would be better.

We picked up three sheets this morning which will last quite a while. We don't post nearly as many letters as we once did.

I do most of my holiday greetings online either via email or facebook. Thankfully I don't have to worry about address changes.

I have one friend that emails so that's one less to worry about.

@rebelann I think I have five friends on FB. And I don't 'do' Twitter. A few friends I email from time to time but mostly I'd send them a card.

So many shapes, colours and sizes. It would be difficult to choose if you wanted containers but we only wanted troughs.

@JudyEv - I guess it is the same all over the world ... we depend on the address labels the charities send us as much as we can. I did buy a few on a special deal when I ordered my photo Christmas cards. It would certainly solve your problem if the charities would hurry up and get some new address labels to you ASAP.

@JudyEv - I'm sure after you have lived in your new address a few more months you will get plenty of new address labels. That is what has happened here. I get them from charities that I have never sent a penny to. I don't understand why.

We haven't had any this year. Most in the past were unsolicited but I guess many charities are cutting costs nowadays.

I've just written about our day. We got a lot of little things done and out of the way. It was very productive really.

@JudyEv Yes I understand. That's why I send some of my cards by post too. In fact, I have already sent them. It seems to be a bit early but usually in December delivery takes longer and so I sent them earlier on

Thanks. We were able to get labels today. I do send some by email but others I like to post out. Some of my older friends aren't into computers very much.

I bought the plain sheets and printed ours, I am sure you can find those sheets, the most famous brand is Avery here.

@JudyEv They offered a free software you could download online to be sure that you printed perfectly in the area. I am sure I have it on my computer. Computers hard disks are worse than house drawers, full of stuff and you cannot find what you search.

We have Avery here and we have some boxes of labels in the office. I guess we should have printed our own. I'm not sure why we didn't although sometimes they don't print exactly in the area they're supposed to.

My uncle used to get address labels from charities too. We have a lot of them with his name on them. I may use some of them.

That was the case with us too. It seemed to be all the rage for a while. Free labels at Christmas in the hope of a donation back.

It's a longish address to have to hand-write on 30 or 40 cards so I'm glad we now have the labels.

I picked up two boxes of Christmas cards from a newsagent. They were quite nice and a good price so I'm pretty happy.
