Day 156 Psalm 12:1 (To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David.) Help, LORD; for the godly man ceases; for the faithful fails from among the children of men. 2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. 3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proud things: 4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? 5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the LORD; I will set him in safety from him who puffs at him. 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. 8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted. Who do you trust? With so much wickedness in the world today, it’s hard to find an honest person, even among our leaders. It isn’t a new phenomenon to find dishonest leadership. David asked for God’s help because he saw wickedness everywhere. His only hope was in God whose words were as pure as silver. He knew God was the only person who could keep him safe when he saw vile men exalted. Open your newspaper. Turn on the news. Read the news on the Internet. Whatever your source for information from around the world, you can read about the evil taking place everywhere. Corruption takes place in our highest offices. As Christians, you need to turn to God. He is the only one who can lead you to people you can trust. Even there, you need to be careful as corruption happens even in the church. You need to weigh the words you hear in the pulpit with God’s Word. Does it line up? Can you trust your church leadership? Do the messages they speak tickle your ears? Do they speak honied words? 2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. (KJV) Even the prophets couldn’t trust each other. Therefore, you need to test the spirits. 1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (KJV) It’s easy to go along with the crowd. You need, however, to weigh everything you hear and discern the truth for yourself with the Word of God. He will guide you in all truth. Don’t go after the crowd, follow God’s Word. It will never fail you. Let’s pray: Father, help me discern what I hear so Your truth lives in me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. I've never been a huge crowd follower, which has been a blessing. We absolutely need to discern everything we read and hear. That is the problem today, many just want to believe anything with out thinking for themselves and doing some research. Have a blessed day
