...spiders, scorpions, snakes, bees, etc. One of my young Chinese students claimed that he has a jumping spider. I was so concerned when he showed it to me. The good thing is, it is not dangerous and eats dried bugs or worms. I cannot tell him how I do not like this kind of creature.
Have you ever tried strange pets in your life?
Are you open to having strange pets in your house?

The most normal pet we have right now is our bunny, and technically she's still considered an "exotic" pet.
Aside from her we have three lizards (bearded dragon, leopard gecko, and plateau fence lizard) and a ball python. I'd totally have more than that but our space is a bit too limited to really go crazy with the reptiles. I'm not allowed to have pet spiders anymore so I make do with observing the ones that find their way in. The jumping spiders we get are my favorites, though. They're super sassy. So much personality in teeny packages!

I love jumping spiders. They are very clever and rather cat-like for arachnids. I haven't kept one, but I've been tempted.
Over the years, I've lived with an array of critters. Some of them were mine, while (many) others were the roommates' (but, somehow, often still claimed me).
Now, though, it's just the two of us and our two cats. Given how rambunctious our kitty boy is, I don't know that I could add rats or other creatures to the family.

@Shavkat When I had dogs, they were good with the cats. The only really bad interaction that I can remember was that my male dog did take a chunk of fur because a cat was foolish enough to leap over him and startle him out of his sleep, but he was quite elderly and had serious health problems at that point. The cat wasn't actually injured, realized her error and didn't do it again.
Of course, that cat had a bit of history doing silly things. She was the same one who got nipped on the nose by a rat, because she stuck her face in the cage--right up in the rat's face. She didn't repeat that behavior.

During my childhood years, I always see them in our yard before. I did not know that it can be a pet. If I was aware of this idea, I would sell these jumpy spiders to my childhood friends and classmates.
I wish I could have a whisker again. However, one of my dogs does not like it.

To me it’s not stranger but to some people it is. We have 4 ferrets, a bearded dragon. Hamsters are pretty normal pet so is fish which we have those too.

@Shavkat bearded dragons are pretty easy to care for. So are the ferrets low maintenance to keep and have.

@ShyBear88 I am curious. What do bearded dragons eat and even the ferrets?

You know I had walking sharks for years. Otherwise, my fishie babies are all I need.

@Shavkat Because those were a gift from a friend in Australia... I've checked into buying more but they're just too expensive. (My friend caught them right after they'd hatched when she was on vacation at the seashore... so the only expense she had was shipping them to me.)

I do not know what is the appeal of these.

I also think that it is a good business for pet shops to raise and sell jumpy spiders. For tarantulas, it is a big NO.
