Today from my favorites I offer a country song by Waylon Jennings "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)." The song was recorded by Jennings in 1977 and was the first single on the album Ol' Waylon. The song tells the story of a couple whose position in "high society" has put a strain on their marriage and finances and suggest that they should get back to the basics of love by relocating to the small town of Luckenbach, Texas. References in the song include the Hatfields and McCoys, Hank Williams, Mickey Newbury, Jerry Jeff Walker, and "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and the final refrain features a guest vocal by Willie Nelson.

I do love that song. I just don’t know how Jerry Jeff Walker got pegged for “train songs” because he co-wrote “Railroad Lady” and covered “Desperadoes Waiting for a Train,” though.

I'm not a country fan except for a few like Patsy Cline, etc.
