Gaddangs in Cagayan Valley

These tribes are living in Cagayan Valley and they speak similar to the dialect Ilocano. Some of them can be found in the southeastern part of Kalinga and the eastern part of Bontoc. "Gaddang' comes from the root words 'ga' means heat and 'dang' means burned. They still continue their practices in hunting, farming, and fishing. Tribal men's traditional clothes are 'dinega' (loincloths), 'koton' (small beaded jacket), and 'tapit' (cape).

@Nawsheen I am sure you will enjoy seeing and living with them. I used to live with them while working in one of the local government agencies here.

I know a lot about Cagayan because I had a very close friend named Melvin who came from that place, the late Melvin was like a big brother to me, he was a member of the now defunct Philippine Constabulary, assigned to the dreaded Metrocom unit of the late dictator Marcos. I learned from him that there are 2 major tribes the " ibanag" and " itawis" I just wonder why a lot of stories and myths about fire in that place, even the Capital Tuguegarao is associated with fire. I think the place was borne out of a conflagration that is pre-colonial or colonial, is that true? Do you speak their sub dialects?

I do not speak their dialects. For the reason that I am not a native-like them. Although I can communicate with them using the Ilocano dialect.

There do still hunt wild boars in the cordillera regions, except in Baguio City and La Trinidad.
