Start to Roast a Turkey in the Morning

Tomorrow morning at about 7:00A I will be stuffing the turkey, for our Thanksgiving dinner. This won't take quite as long to cook, because I like to use a roasting bag. It's nice to do it this way, because the turkey browns nicely, without drying out the meat. The rest of our fixin's will be cooked in the afternoon, right before we eat. Jay baked two pumpkin pies, which both of us will enjoy. The pecan pies, he can eat those himself or share them with somebody else. Photo: Borrowed from Pixabay

That's a nice tip to prevent the meat from drying. Good luck with the preparations and happy thanksgiving

I discovered plastic baking bags about 10 years ago. Someone just dusts the inside with flour, puts the turkey inside, uses the over-proof tie then cut a few slits in the bag. Place it in a roasting pan and let it bake. It cooks in 1/2 the time and the turkey self-bastes.

@Nawsheen Thank you, this is a very important day in the United States. Second only to Christmas, the birth of our savior the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sounds like you are going to have a great turkey dinner,Years ago when I also made Thanksgiving dinners I also started early in the morning but instead of a roasting bag I kept basting the turkey throughout the cooking, I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiviing,

@CarolDM When all the leftovers are refrigerated, we simply throw the plastic bag in a garbage can. For many years, we soaked the roaster for almost a week after Thanksgiving, to clean it.

I got up early this morning, then didn't do anything. It was a bit later, before I started roasting the turkey. With it being only Jay and me eating dinner today, time isn't really a big deal. He just ate a sandwich and I had a small breakfast. Dinner should be in about three hours:) Happy Thanksgiving, Linda!

When the pilgrims first landing here from England, it was their brand new home. The Indians were already here, so they shared a Thanksgiving Meal together. They were thankful for what God had blessed them with, a new country and religious freedom!

I was joking about my turkey, it was so done the legs fell off the bird! I told Jay, 'so much for getting a photo for the Woman's Day Magazine!'

It's not a brown bag, it's a cellophane bag that's clear.
