Do Canadians call Canadian Bacon bacon or do Canadians call it Canadian bacon and if they call it simply 'bacon' what do Canadians call bacon?

And this post is NOT influenced by the Evil marijuana. It is inspired by a pizza. Or, more precisely, a piece of ham on a pizza. Although the piece of ham was actually more reminiscent of a piece of Canadian bacon. And there went my brain off into left field. Food for thought.

Bacon in Canada is bacon. The same as what you all call bacon. What you call Canadian bacon we call back bacon.

Pizza inspired? What inspired the pizza? We call bacon bacon, that's what it is. What you call Canadian bacon, we refer to as back bacon. Its not as good as bacon though. Did you have bacon on your pizza or was it just ham?

@myklj999 I like ham on a pizza, but its not bacon, both are better, but then you have a greasy pizza.

We couldn't get 'proper' bacon in France. Just proscuitto.

JudyEv Bacon does not exist in France and they do not even have the aged or smoked "pancetta" we have in Italy. Their thing is salted and full of water their "jambon blanc" is better than prosciutto with the eggs.

@JudyEv They have the habit to wrap the beef to prepare a roast-beef with their bacon. I always asked to my butcher to prepare one for me WITHOUT that thing wrapped around it.

Is it the left brain which is focused on art, say, food?

@myklj999 Uh huh... that's what I'd say, too... even though I do believe you... I've done that before. Seen something and started thinking about it and missed what was happening in front of me. Pretty teases me about it a lot.

Not really well-versed on this topic but I would assume they also call it bacon, because we call bacon, also bacon here in our country.

I suppose that American call it "Canadian bacon", as in Canada I have never seen it mentioned as "Canadian Bacon".
