The trial starts tomorrow for Jussie Smollett. I know some of you might be asking who is Jussie Smollett? Others might be thinking, I thought those charges were dropped. Let me try and explain this story for those that are unfamiliar with it. Jussie Smollett is an actor formally on the show “Empire”. I can’t tell you anything about Empire since I never see one episode of the show, but I guess he was somewhat famous. In January of 2019 he decided to report a racially motivated assault on himself. He claimed that two men dressed in “MAGA” hats attacked him on the streets of Chicago and left him beaten and with a noose around his neck. As he claimed this all happened at 2 am on one of the coldest nights of that winter. He claimed he was out getting a sandwich and that these men waited to attack him. This story was hard to believe when it first came out. He claimed he went out for a walk to get a sandwich at 2 am local time in Chicago. Maybe getting a sandwich at that time of the night might seem a little old but what really makes it crazy is that night Chicago almost set a historical record cold. The low that night was -23F (-30C), who would go out for a sandwich in that weather? He also said he seen the men standing outside and when he came out of the store with his sandwich, they attacked him. Again, hard to believe two men stood out in that cold to attack him. He claimed they beat him up and hung a noose around his neck. He said it was two white guys with “MAGA” hats on. He claimed that he was attacked because he was black and gay. Now I’m not sure how some random people would know he was gay unless they knew who he was. Well after some investigation it was found and that he admitted to making up the story. He actually paid to black guys to stage the attack. He wanted to give Trump and his supporters a bad name. At first of course the media ate that up until they found out it was all a made-up story by this guy, then they tried to back track and cover their butts. As should have been he was indicted on all 16 counts of providing false information but Kim Foxx, the Cook County State’s Attorney, decided to dismiss all counts against him. Other than losing $10,000 for his bail he paid nothing for this. Now Dan Webb, a special prosecutor has brought disorderly conduct charges against Smollett. This trail is the one that was brought up back in February 2020 and has been delayed due to the pandemic. Monday it will finally start. Now that many have forgotten about this case or just don’t care anymore. Hopefully he will pay for all of this. I don’t know exactly what can happen, but something has to be done to him for all the time and money he wasted of the police to investigate. Not to mention the hate he tried to spread with his story.

Of all the lunk headed idea this tops the cake, I hope they slam the books on him and he pays for what he attempted to do, Guess he had nothing better to do than come up with this scheme,

Yeah I agree he should have to pay in some way for this. Not sure if the State's Attorney can step in again or not on this one.

Agreed. I know there's a lot of good black people out there, but when a black does this, it only widens the devide. We've improved a lot, but there's still a long road ahead if we're all going to co-exist. If that's even possible at this point. Hopefully, he gets what he deserves.

So you're saying he never got that sandwich he went out after? Such a shame.

@Bensen32 There were times that late at night that I was so hungry I would have done the same thing (beat someone up for their sandwich).

@moffittjc He should have went with that story it would have been more believable. I mean who would not hang outside in -23F weather to a sandwich?

maybe they wanted to beat him up to take his sandwich and it had nothing to do with being black or gay. LOL

Wow. I remember that story. It's been awhile since he's been out of the spotlight, and now he is once again. I bet it'll be in the news this week.

Yes, he should have been. Maybe he needs to pay the city back for all the money they spent.

@CarolDM That is the least he should be fined the amount they spent due to his lies.
