War is a necessity to maintain peace.
If we did not intervene... there would be some maniacs starting wars all over the world. Million of people would die every year and the poverty would be a lot worse than it is today.
If you look at the wars through Africa... where no-one intervene... it is a massacre. And the same people who blame Bush for going in Irak... also blame Bush for not going in Africa.
The space program is a necessity for our progress in technology. Most of the things that we take for granted today were developed originally for the space program.
One of the big bonus from the space program has been the deployment of satellites for our communications.
It permit us to receive images instantly across the globe. It gives satellite phone, internet and television to remote aeras who had to live without in the past.
The space program does not only cater for America. It caters for the whole world. NASA actually makes money by deploying satellites for other countries. The space shuttle is run like a business. It is not a joy fly.
You just wait a few more years... when our population grows from 6 billion to 9 billion by 2040. You will have a billion people starving.
Why do you think that is?
We are slowly destroying the Earth in order to feed too many people. We destroy the forests to cultivate the land. By destroying the forests, we create a climate change. With the climate change... we run out of water and cannot grow food for the people.
If we don't want to see people dying... we better tell those people to stop multiplying. Nature will not allow 9 billion people to live on this planet. Something has to give. And all the money in the world won't fix it either.

Your comments are well thought out and well presented.Thank you for replying.
There is alot of collateral damage resulting from the countries following this path.
I agree with what you are saying for the long run(as we continue to destroy this planet),but I do not believe we need more billion-dolllar weapons etc. when there are many people in the world starving.
