Airfare, are rates always this changeable?

Anyway, I am contemplating flying up to see the fam in the days after Christmas. I know I just saw them, but mailing presents back and forth last year was a disaster, and I don't want a repeat of that. I also don't really want to repeat that long car trip with the dog in tow. My car I just don't really trust for a long trip like that, I feel much better with local travel. I could rent a car, but friend would likely freak out. He will say just fly up, and I will pay part of your airfare. Hence, I am looking at them. There was a hundred dollar difference from the first time I looked at the fares the night before last and last night.. They really weren't too bad even flying into my hometown, usually a major city is better, but then it is a long drive and with lake effect snow you never know what will happen.

I remember that they were always changeable, the day of the week makes a big difference, usually also if you accept to have stops, it's cheaper.

Yeah, and I was talking to someone about it. The cheapest rate was staying overnight in Charlotte...long lag there..No Thank you, by the time you figure in the hotel costs it isn't going to be any cheaper. It might be an adventure, but I don't think I will opt for that. I will only do some same day stops.

@snowy22315 - I never wanted a stop, an International flight is long enough without having stops once you arrive and you have to catch a national flight.

@LadyDuck Well this isn't international. It can be interesting to stop at a new airport. The Pittsburgh airport has great shopping. One time in Detroit, I had a Detroit style pizza while waiting for a connecting flight, it was delicious!

I am not sure Snowy. I have not looked at air fares for many years now.

@RebeccasFarm Odds are of that happening on your flight are probably about the same as your plane crashing...highly unlikely. I don't know why people have to act like such jackasses though. I hope they are prosecuted to the nth degree of the law...Idiots!

Sounds like a flight that's a good price would be a good option for you. Last Christmas I mailed some brownies 2 day priority and they finally got there 11 days later. Couldn't even get a refund because I didn't send them priority plus. Such a scam by USPS.

I think it will be as long as I can find an affordable flight.
