I thought I might write a bit about cookie history, to go along with Dena's Christmas Carol series. I will start with my favorite cookie The peanut butter blossom. (The PB cookie with a Hershey's Kiss) According to a few different sources this cookie was developed by Frieda Smith of Gibsonburg, Ohio who presented it in the Pillsbury Bake OFf in 1957. No word about whether Frieda won the bake off, but I will post here if she did.

I would love to try them, made with chocolate and no peanut.

Maybe you could make them chocolate on chocolate, although they wouldn't taste the same. Can you use sunflower butter in place of the peanut butter?

@LadyDuck Maybe you could make them with that...and get a similar effect.

@snowy22315 Yes, sunflower butter is fine, it's only anything with peanuts that I cannot use.

@snowy22315 And they're so easy! Not sure about the original recipe, but I make the three ingredient pb cookies which are super easy and flourless so they're gluten free.

I think I've only had these once. Though i do like peanut butter cookies themselves. A cookie bake off, that sounds delicious and fun. Hope she did win

@snowy22315 I bought some Hershey kisses a few weeks ago to make these. The Hershey kisses are hot cocoa flavored. Last year I decorated them like little Christmas trees.

That is great idea using a peanut butter cookie dough recipe with the kiss. I usually just make thumb print cookies with the kiss. Have you done peanut butter cookies with a peanut butter M&M? Those are my favorite. So I don't make them or else I will eat too many.

No, but they sound great. I am sure I would like those too, but the kiss ones can't be beat. They are dangerous though
