Mylot has changed

Mylot really has changed a lot since first it appeared to me back in the dark ages which was 2006. That was brought home to me today on a post I was commenting on. It was a food post and basically it was about a sausage. I said "You must have experienced a sausage or two in your time." Only one person liked the comment. In 2006 I would have had more likes than an Insha Allah on a post about Islam. So changed days here indeed. Less interaction on replies. Why don't people jump in on other people's replies here so much anymore , It is allowed you know. Aye, Mylot has changed.

I don’t think people have the sense of humor they had 15 years ago. I have to mark some humorous discussions I make with Foghorn Leghorn’s comment (“It’s a joke, son”) to make sure people don’t take it seriously.

@FourWalls I was wondering if things changed mostly because of less users (less activity) or if the users themselves changed throughout the years. I would have thought it was the former. I still happen to find like-minded people, but they're just a few.

I like the long discussion threads, especially those where humor is involved. I'll say no more, as I was just hung up on by the IRS and am not feeling funny. Where the heck is my refund check?

I don't mind long discussion threads, but I do not like the fact that they are too hard to follow. When one comments on a response, it goes to the bottom of the discussion, and you never know what the comment was regarding.

Probably too many people were offended by your comment. People don't have thick skin anymore, and can't take humor like in the past. Everything has to be politically correct these days.

That is exactly it. Some people just dont know how to have fun anymore. They take everything so seriously and get offended so easily. Laughing is good for the health!! People should do more of it.

@Happy2BeMe Reading some of the input here has amused me. Imagine being offended by someone on a discussion forum jumping into a conversation to discuss something.

@CarolDM I wish every single high profile member from back in the day would come back and post. That would be eye opening. Actually it would most likely be the most funny thing ever. I know a few from the old days I emailed did join up again But unlike me they didn't stay.

@JimBo452020 If you respond to a few of the response threads in their discussions it's ok but many is not. That is weird to me. The whole point of the site is to have discussions... If we feel like we have something to add or ask somewhere we should be able to do that without the author of the discussion having a fit over it.

I don't care if anyone feels offended by it Anna I don't really consider it to be " get offended " worthy I will continue to do it. I must talk to @GoAskAlice about this. I have had comments deleted before when I have done this and I don't think that should happen.

Just remember, people on MyLot don't stay on one discussion. They bounce constantly from one to another, changing subjects quickly. I get very few comments, on any writing. Please, don't take this personal! It happens to everyone on this site. Check it out yourself. Most members get about ten responses, at the most. The more members who join, the fewer comments we will receive. Even I don't stay in one place. I come and go from the Internet off and on, all day long. Many do the same thing.

@kobesbuddy My post was more about the LACK of interaction on individual replies. Nothing to do with how many responses I get on any post. Interactions on individual replies were the mainstay of.Mylot as a discussion forum It doesn't happen now very much at all. And some people here get offended, yes that's the word I saw used , when people jump into replies to " discuss" something. Maybe.they should just bugger off and post elsewhere if they are offended by discussion.

Interesting. I think myLot worked very differently back then, I heard of stars and saw a few screenshots on the wayback machine. I wasn't there, and it was 15 years ago... only. I didn't know people would comment on comments way more often compared to now. I suppose it was more rewarding to do so back then. And there were more active users too, I bet. Then "likes" seem to be given quite randomly these days.

Whole new discussions would be born on one reply. Often gaining more comments than the original post. There were so many active users it was unreal. The star rating system.was.excellent. I was theconly user in history I think who started out with a ZERO raring I am very proud of that.

I was not here when it started but I feel there are fewer interactions when it comes to responses/comments. I try to chip in whenever I can, but cautiously though as I am not sure whether it is welcomed. I feel we need more food for thought too than merely satisfying the palate or living vicariously while enjoying posts on food.
