Pizzelles are a thin Italian waffle type cookie, made in a specially designed waffle iron. They originated from the Abruzzo area of Italy. I don't think they are popular everywhere, but in the area I grew up they were. Traditionally Pizelles are Anise flavored, but they can also be made with vanilla and lemon zest. I prefer vanilla. I think they might be called Rosettes in Australia, and maybe other places in the world.

They are pretty good, although I was never in favor of the anise ones. I do like the vanilla ones however.

I think they like waffles in Belgium. I have some Belgian waffles right now imported from there.

@Juliaacv I just had some really good Belgian waffles I bought at Wegmans...they had a really good flavor. I am curious to see how these taste.

Are you sure? You were the one who mentioned rosettes in regard to these cookies.

@JudyEv Oh sorry, now I guess you will be paranoid the rest of the day....Oh my, what else have I forgotten?? Maybe you meant something else. FYI, I just looked at the picture of rosettes, I have seen those kinds of things...they are more like what we would all a sugar waffle. A little thicker than a pizzelle.

They are tasty, at least the vanilla ones, never cared for the anise personally.
