New glasses and Christmas tree shortbreads

My husband and I went to the optometrists yesterday and had our eyes tested. The business is called Specs241 and if you buy one pair, you get a second pair free. Vince’s sight hasn’t changed much at all so he didn’t bother with new glasses. However, I am getting new ones. They will be multi-focal (I nearly wrote ‘vocal’ ) and tinted. We are entitled to a pair of glasses each year so these will cost us very little. I am also getting a pair of bi-focal which will be free. When we left there, we went next door for a cup of coffee. We had a small blueberry cupcake each too. When the order arrived, the waiter gave us a free Christmas tree shortbread. Aren’t they cute? I bought them home to eat later but bit the trunk off one before I thought about taking a photo of them.

The government subsidises one pair of glasses each year.

Wow, that's a really good deal on your glasses. I like shortbread cookies but I don't eat them very often.

Yeah, that's true. Lucky for me that I really don't crave sweets very often.

I don't mind them occasionally but they are full of butter and sugar so not particularly good for you.

My husband needed new multi-focal glasses and he is not happy with what they did. I have changed very little I decided not to have a new pair.

@JudyEv I have no idea about those I wear and my husband wears. Our niece was "image consultant" at Silhouette, they make eyeglasses frames. She suggested us what to buy, they are really light.

@LadyDuck With acrylic, the nose pads are incorporated into the frames. They are said to be more comfortable.

Vince didn't get new ones but I was keen to get acrylic frames. The bits that sit on my nose are making marks because I have been wearing glasses for so long. They say the acrylic frames are better. I hope so.

Cute cookies. That's a great deal on glasses. Free is always good. My last pair cost $140 with insurance.

I don't know how they are making any money if they are giving away a free pair with every sale. Maybe only a few take advantage of the offer.

@LindaOHio That's for sure. And I think they feel they can charge more if part of the cost is being met by the government.

@JudyEv We have those two for one deals here although some say the shops that provide them are not accurate with prescruptions.

With multi-focal, the lens is graduated. If you look through the top part, you can see long distance; in the middle it's good for computer work and the lower section is good for reading. With the bi-focals, it will just be for computer and reading.

@JudyEv I don't know this since I don't have problems with my visions. My visions is so clear I don't need an eyeglass at all

They are shortbreads so are sweet and perhaps a bit crumbly.
