Today, at lunch, I received a message from Carolina. She told me that she had to write a short story and that it was her final work in Literature as she had saved money and got a sholarship to study Literature in Madrid (Spain).
She had sent it to me and I told her that I´d read it as soon as I had some time.
When Dixie came to get apricots, I was reading Carolina´s very good short story about the time of Pinochet in Chile. I was crying also, because the story was good and moving and because my granddaughter had written it.
I confess that I am afraid that too many young people have forgotten all the terrible things that happened during Pinochet´s time. They weren´t born yet and reading and studying History is a lost art.
Yet she had managed to capture the terror of so many families during that time.
I hope more young people ask and keep in their memory that awful time so that it doesn´t happen again.
Many people from Venezuela have come to my country, fleeing from Maduro´s government. But I remember the time before Chavez and Maduro, when Venezuela received so many Chilean people and gave them refuge.
Carolina´s story has reminded of things we should never forget.

It's nice that she wrote such a touching piece, then.

I can only imagine your feelings on reading Carolina's story. Young people should be taught more history so hopefully they can avoid some of the mistakes of the past.

I'm glad Carolina's story has kept alive that period in history.
