Update on Brendel

Took Brendel to her vet today. Her chronic bronchitis and kidney disease both have worsened. Just what I was afraid of.
No cure for either one of these conditions. He has recommended using an aerosol mask with medicine. Hopefully this will break up the secretions in her lungs and help her to breathe easier.
The bronchitis causes secretions to build up and will eventually get to where she cannot cough these up, cutting off her airway.
Up most of the night and day with her. She coughs but nothing comes up. She is not breathing well now. I can hear wheezing and rattles. I will order this new mask with the medicine and hopefully she will get some relief.
It will not be easy getting her to breathe in the medicine with this mask. Cats are so funny about anything different. I just hope it gives her some relief. Right now that is all I can do for her.

So sorry about this. Right around the holidays is not when you want to have this happening. It was the same with my former cat.

@CarolDM No, but it would have helped. I was looking into it actually, when he passed. He had that version of cardiomyopathy, I forgot the specific name(hypertrophic I think).What I was really looking for was some kind of clinical study to treat the condition. There had been some research done on it, but I don't think there were any ongoing trials at the time.

Sending kitty thoughts your way. I think Kitty is depressed. Maybe it's the weather. Or maybe she is mirroring my foul mood. I am the one who makes weird noises when I sleep. I try to make music out of them. But Kitty sneezes a lot as well.

@CarolDM I babysat for Matthew, a boy who needed this at bedtime. He had cystic fibrosis.

Sorry it has gotten worse. My cat that was sick is finally better. We think it was the dry food so we switched it back and he is much better.
