Mom and Dad are both gone now, the kids moved away
I'm not too excited, for this Christmas Day
I have so many comforts, I'm warm and I'm fed
But the thought of this Christmas, brings tears instead
Covid has stolen, two years away
No kids at the house, on Christmas Day
I should get over myself and just suck it up
And save all my tears, for an old and sick pup.
I turned on some music and put lights on the tree
And a magical thing, happened to me
All of my worries, that threatened to linger
Rushed from my head and spilled out my finger
I have found a new spirit, a fresh and warm glow
The weatherman said, it might even snow.
I hope that you'll find, what brings you your joy
Some brittle or herring, or even a toy
May all your blessings, be counted in scores
A Merry Christmas to you, from my house to yours.
Do you sometimes have trouble getting into a Christmas mood?

Very nice. Did you just write that or is it something you wrote some time back?

@JimBo452020
A friend just dropped off several salmon and a few pounds that was smoked.
I have some 80 proof egg nog and several tasty buds.
I am all set.

I have cheered up a bit
A gin and Tonic, a wee smoke
And receiving a hand Knitted Arran Roll Neck Sweater for Xmas has made my day.
And a pair of trousers which fitted.

Thank you.
My only plan for Christmas is to eat myself into a food coma. And then do it again later

Well done
I enjoyed this very much.
I feel a bit disappointed that there are no more big gatherings at this time of the year or any time for that matter.
But we have to stay safe, and like you, I have many comforts and those that love me and will spend time with them tomorrow.
Merry Christmas.

@Vikingswest1 I think that you are in good company, many are doing that.
Our 'Christmas' this year will be when our twin granddaughters are born in February, so I will be celebrating then.
But take a moment and think back to that first Christmas all of those years ago, and the cold night that new family spent in the stable. We have so much to be thankful for.

I've been counting blessings all day today.
I pulled out the 50 year old Nativity set this morning. It reminded me of the real reason for celebrating.

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
That's a lovely poem and so apt for the current times. I am sure many around the globe would relate to that. The pandemic has dampened the festival mood.

It wasn't until I put up some lights.
Then it seemed more like Christmas.

It doesn't always snow here and it melts in a few days. I'd be ok with two feet of that white stuff
Update:
Starting to snow pretty heavy in the last half hour. Inch on the ground already. Muahahahah.
