MAGA world is angry at Trump

Last week Trump was interviewed by conservative personality Candice Owens. He declared the vaccines as safe and very effective. He did not do this out of some benevolent sense of protecting Americans. He was trying to take credit for their development. The problem is that the vaccines have become a political thing. Somewhere along the way conservatives/Republicans decided that they are unsafe and/or ineffective while liberals/Democrats embraced them and lined up for their shots. So Trump was promoting the very thing that his lunatic followers hate. Candice Owens' response to the Republican outrage over Trump's comments was to say that he is old, not tech-savvy, and can't be expected to do "his own research". God I hate when people say they are doing their own research. Yeah I'm sure Google and YouTube know more about science than the PhDs at the CDC, FDA, NIH, etc. Yesterday conspiracy theorist Alex Jones issued an Emergency Christmas Statement saying that Trump is either ignorant or evil to "push this toxic poison on the public". This is the only time I will ever say this in my life: I agree with Alex Jones. Trump is ignorant. Trump is evil. He is both! It will be interesting to see what some of these other nuts at FOX News, OANN, Newsmax, etc. have to say about his comments in the coming days. In trying to take credit for the development of the COVID vaccines he has seriously pissed off the only people who were still supporting him. His hubris has gotten him again.
Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones issued an "Emergency Christ Message" to Donald Trump following the former president's defense of Covid-19 vaccines.“Oh no, the vaccines work,” Trump told Candice Owens. “But some people are the ones — the ones who get very si

Trump is a joke. Alex Jones is an even bigger joke. It fun to see the little b*tches bickering. As I grow more Conservative in my dotage, I would like to see Trump in prison sooner than later, so I can begin to take the Republican Party seriously again.

In which ways do you find yourself more conservative and less liberal than you used to feel?

@spiderdust Egads, I could discuss this for hours. I do not believe in stuff like "black lives matter" (I grew up with mostly black friends in Chicago and find BLM insulting to blacks). I do not believe in "defund the police," as it hurts mostly black people in areas with high crime rates. I do not believe that wearing a t-shirt outside on a cold day is a male "micro-aggression" toward females. I do not believe it is "evil" to deny that a lot of anti-Asian hate crime is committed by a certain ethnicity in the US. I abhor political correctness. I could go on and on.

@TheHorse How on earth is the t-shirt on a cold day a micro-aggression to anyone?! That's a new one for me.

Doing your own research means reading published medical studies (no, not just the abstracts and definitely not someone's random blog that's on a free hosting site) and/or performing your own scientific experiments in a lab. Most people aren't doing that. I know most scientific studies are difficult for me to interpret when I read them because that's simply not my area of expertise. That's part of why I trust people who ARE actual experts.

Many people are clueless about actual peer-reviewed research. Horse Jr.'s mom would trust Alex Jones over a scholarly article.

@TheHorse It doesn't hurt that I have a family member who studied and published scholarly articles about vector-borne diseases for years.

It’s the same old thing with Trump. But seriously we must rely on the vaccine. Thats all we have at this time.

They can be misguiding. Hopefully people don't be blind followers but use their logic. We need to fight this pandemic collectively.
