Out In The Cold

Today it is quite cold here at only -9C. That is typically a bit colder then seasonable temperatures, but feels even colder with the mild temperatures we have felt. My hubby has today off as a result of the New Years holiday falling on a Sunday. He is going out in the cold for me this morning. I received a particular book that was identical from both him as well as from our son and his wife. My hubby is taking that back, they should have enough stock in that he can choose another suitable book for me to read. I have a top that he bought that is far too big for me. It is a beautiful merlot colour, I hope that he can find something else in that colour. Diapers are on sale. Our son's friends were planning a diaper party for him. They have been doing this for years since the first of them began a family. Each guy brings a box of diapers to the party. Given the times we are in, I do not think that they will gather. I'm sending my hubby out to get a case of preemie diapers. I know that our son and his wife were counting on that party, so we will lighten their load with a case of preemie diapers. We have another case here in the next size up, but we will hold on to it until the time comes, their home is bursting at the seams with all of the baby things. When he goes out he double masks and always wears disposible gloves. He is all set. Me, I will be working away in our home office.

It is pretty cold. Stay warm and safe indoors. A diaper party sounds like a fun party and a very sensible and practical one.

@arunima25 Yes they both commented how nice it will be and since the father is also a twin his wife could have twins as well.

The guys always do that when there is an expectant Dad in their circle of friends. Our son just found out this afternoon that one of his closest friends in the group is expecting their second child. So his baby will be born 6 months after our son's twins, so they will be playmates.

@Juliaacv That's an exciting news. They must be happy to have some playmates for their twins soon.

It sounds like you and your husband have it all figured out. Great teams make for productive and happy families. Well done I say.

I was super thankful that he went out and did all of those errands today. He was gone for quite a long time.

BUUURRRRR, I thought -4c was cold but I'm so glad it didn't get down to -9c Won't the twins be a little too small for preemie diapers? Not that I know a lot about diapers to begin with but aren't most newborns between 5 and 6 pounds?

It is darned cold today. The babies will need the preemie diapers, that is the smallest that they make. We bought a case of them today. The other case we have is for just after that so like 6 or 7 pounds and up.

@rebelann They work really well as a team, and it cannot be as busy as her sister was. When her sister had her twins, she had a 6 year old and an 18 month old. That was super busy.

Stay inside, it seems very cold at your place. I thought your son's friend already hosted the diaper party for him. May be they had to cancel because of the virus. I also wear disposable gloves when I go out, I am so scared by this new mutation.

I stayed in all day. They had to postpone the diaper party, and today the province put us into a circuit breaker, no more then 5 gathering together indoors, so no diaper party. My hubby got them a case of almost 200 diapers as well there is another case here for the next size up. Our son and his wife stopped in this afternoon, her face was puffy, like she has extra fluid, it won't be long.

@LadyDuck As of tomorrow 3 provinces, including Ontario, will go into harder restrictions. They stopped using the word lockdown as people are apt to react negatively and protest and spread it worse. Now we cannot gather more then 5 in a home. Non essential retail stores will only be allowed up to 50% as is the same for personal care such as hair dressers, restaurants are closed for dine in and some are closing all together while others will offer take out. The hospitality sector has been hardest hit and some of the managers and owners simply do not have the staff willing to work thru this again, others simply do not have the cash flow to keep the lights on to allow for that plus pay for their staff. Yesterday there were 13,578 new cases reported in Ontario here. And probably about half as many not reported.

@Juliaacv - Our indoors gathering for the moment, are for up to 10 people, but only if from the same family. We are back to serious restrictions thanks to Omicron. I hope she rests enough to let the babies grow well. She will surely be relieved to deliver them, she is now having a hard time I think.

It was super cold today, but I really appreciated my hubby going out to get the errands done. Our son and daughter-in-law stopped in for a little visit this afternoon when I was on my break.

I haven't heard of a diaper party before either, sounds fun. It's sad you can't have a proper party though, but it's a nice thought regardless.

The guys are so practical and have been having these gatherings since the first of them announced that he was going to be a Dad. We bought our son a case of 174 preemie diapers today.

We bought them a case of almost 200 diapers today, that won't make much of a dent in their need, but its a start. His friends will probably ship them some as we went into a circuit breaker today and cannot gather more then 5 people in a home at a time.

Happy New Year coffee buddy!! It's freezing here too after a week of rain and mild temperatures. When it comes to babies and diapers you can't have enough. Sounds like that diaper party would have been fun. Hope your hubby is successful running those errands

Happy New Year to you too! Maybe another day this week we will be able to meet up for our first cup of the year. My hubby got the kids a case of almost 200 diapers today, and there is another case here of the next size up.

These are certainly scary times really, especially if you're expecting new babies. It's good your son is taking so many precautions.

Last year I would have said that these are difficult times, but you are right, now it is more accurate to refer to them as scary. Our hospitals are on lockdown, so when she goes to have the babies, he can only drop her off in the parking lot and pick her back up after. He is doing all that he can, and she appreciates it. They make a good team.

@Juliaacv That is so tough. People need support from their nearest and dearest when they're facing childbirth.
