I was a Missing Person

A while back, I came home to get my mail. I had been visiting family in another city. My neighbor knocked on the door and said the police were looking for me. "Wait, what?" They noticed that I was not coming and going as usual so they reported me missing. The cops came and put cameras up to the windows to see if I was there. Like, really? I had to actually talk to the cops to assure them that I was me, I was alive, and was unharmed. Nothing like this ever happened before. I did not know that the neighbors cared about where I was. I guess that is a good and rare thing. What do you think about that? Have you ever been missing and did they find you yet?

Yes, it is but the thought of sticking cameras through my windows really turns me off. I don't like it at all. The neighbors are sweet and watchful but it is a little too much.

I have never been missing. If I were you I’d inform my neighbors next time I was going away.

I guess it's both a good and bad thing knowing your neighbors keep an eye out for you but a bit disturbing that the police got involved.

I don't like that they did. I knew where I was. Every morning, I got up and noticed I was not missing.

@DianneN That was the cops doing the camera bit. It is funny actually but I just don't like that happening. There was a package for my son inside my porch and they even ran the name and looked for other family members.

I'm glad you have caring neighbors. I'm glad you're alive and well. No. Nobody is looking for me. I'm not sure if that means I'm missing, nobody cares, or they know where to find me.

I think they care very much. I think they know where to find you. Maybe you could write in a missing person episode in one of your novels. I flunked Nano. Got 30,000 words. There were lots of outages that helped. The internet was MIA or the electricity did not work, and there was family drama that added to the confusion.

@akalinus I'm so sorry the powers that be worked against you for NaNo. I got to 50K plus and stopped. The story is good, but I want to focus on my next one to publish. Putting in a missing person in a book sounds like a good idea. I'll think about it.

I guess it's nice that they were keeping an eye out for you. Perhaps you all need to let each other know if you're going to be missing for some time.

Yes, I am doing that now. Once I 'disappeared' for three months and no one noticed.

@JudyEv I went to see family up north. They all had problems and I just stayed a lot longer than I was planning on.

Yes, that is the way it usually is. I had no idea that anyone would actually care. It is a good feeling.

This is very rare indeed. I am glad you were found Yes I was reported missing once too by an ex husband, but not because he cared, because he wanted to find me to destroy me and my then young son. Abuse is horrific.

I'm glad your neighbors are paying attention to you to some extent. I think it was very nice of them to be concerned about you. We have an appointment to have my blood pressure meds checked. Pretty told me yesterday that I'm becoming forgetful and have gotten lost driving us home from places. (I don't remember that but I don't doubt what she's saying. It's happened before when my meds went out of adjustment.) I'm happy to see you back on myLot.

@akalinus I find that just hilarious. I do hope you had nothing rude lying around when the camera was snooping. Can’t think what sort of rude thing you might have, but anyway. We’re the neighbours embarrassed at causing such a fuss?

Think of having seen you on TV , on the news , as missing !! I had an incident like that too, in Italy I had nowhere to charge my phone for almost two days , when the messages started coming in they didn't stop !
