Keeping warm

My part of the world is cold this week and will continue to be for a while,I suppose. I know one of my connections mentioned wearing two pairs of sweat pants to go out to feed her animals. When I was a bus driver I wore a line coverall rather than a coat. I do not have to be outside very much or for very long, but it can get chilly in the house if you sit too still. I do not know about you guys, but I do not want to face extreme heating bills so I do other things to keep warm. We have heating pads that plug in, and we put a light blanket overthemt if we are sitting. We make microwaveable heat packs by filling old socks with rice and sewing or tieing them closed.. Those are nice to put around your neck. What I am doing different this year is wearing a vest. I do not like to wear bulky sweaters and sweat shirts, they make me feel very cumbersome. I do have several vests, however. Since they have no sleeves they do not make me feel tied down. They do, however, keep my core warm and that is what I need. My vest today is festive. It is a pale blue and there are felted snowmen on it. Lots of colored beads and sequins that make sparkly snow flakes. It keeps me warm and puts a smile on my face. Keeping cool is another matter, but I do not need to worry until next June or July about the heat. Do you have a special way to regulate your seasonal body temperature? Maybe I can learn something.

For me, it's hot baths and hot coffee. I also find, that surprisingly it has little effect on both the eletric and water bills. You can always also pace around the house, or move in some way once every hour. Anything to keep that blood flowing.

The generation before me always wore singlets and they are good at keeping you warm. Much like a vest I guess but worn under your other clothing.

I´m in summer here and extreme heat makes me sleepy. As I live alone and I´m retired, I´m mostly napping away some CSI reruns.

You pretty much do what I do but lucky me lives in a place that doesn't stay cold all that long. You've given me an idea, I need to check if they have warm winter vests for sale, that would be so much more comfy than the hoody I am wearing, it's bulky.

I should worry about turning the thermostat up, but I prefer being warm inside in winter, so it's up and even that isn't enough sometimes. Then I take a hot shower and that helps warm up my core. I even start sweating.

Good to know how you cope with the cold season. I wear long sleeves when it is cold

Glad to hear the vest is helping. Hubby had a fire going today so inside was nice.

I'll drink hot tea, hot cocoa. I'll add extra blankets or throws on is if needed. Your vest idea sounds like a good idea as I don't like being cumbersome with bulky sweatshirts or sweaters.

I wear my heavy bath robe inside when it’s chilly.
