Housekeeping Inspection Time

Today is the day that we always dread each year. Haven't had one for a couple of years. It is rather scary for us because if they find things wrong sure we can correct them but, if it comes to them kicking us out for some contrived reason we are homeless. We have nowhere to go. We have no family in town now and no friends that we can stay with. So, it is a scary aspect of our having a Section 8 and living as we do here in poverty. The lady(the one we didn't know and hadn't heard from before) was supposed to be here sometime between 2p.and 4p. today to do a walk-through and check my daughter's housekeeping. We are usually a bit nervous, having someone come in and all. But, we have been having them do the inspections for over 20 years now and pretty much know the way it goes. We waited and waited. (I hate the wait.) When you know the people it's different. No one wandering around the neighborhood. No one around anywhere. 3p. came and went. No one came. And at a little after 4p. I got disgusted and called the number her previous letter had provided. She answered the phone. Said perhaps they had missed our apartment by mistake. (Oh, really?) She went off the line for quite a while. Finally came back on the line and said she would be right over. When she got here she hurriedly went through the place and told my daughter everything looked good. So we made it another year. Relief although we knew the outcome really. It is just so nerve-wracking. Image courtesy Adobe Stock-free images.

I’m happy that you passed the inspection and now won’t have to think about it until next year.

I know what you mean. I feel anxious for some reason every time I have a doctor or nurse coming even when I know them, like them too. I think it's because I'm afraid they will say I need to go to the hospital again and yet I am afraid they will say they can't find anything wrong too when I have a new symptom. Go figure

That's so good that you're off the hook for another year. I can imagine it's very worrying waiting for the 'inspector' to come.
