Cheap foods

My husband bought small packs of chili the other day and I was surprised because it was very cheap. Like it was 20 cents per pack or 10 pesos. Now, when I checked online, I simply saw that a kilo of chili is 70 pesos or 1.37usd. Tomatoes, corn and sweet potatoes are also cheap according to my sister. She is going buy me some tomorrow because she will visit me tomorrow evening. Meanwhile, I am clearing my phone because am gonna give it to my sister. Are some foods there cheap? I have no idea why they suddenly got cheap here.

@askme123 I had to ask what that meant, too, when some of my Filipino friends said they went to the wet market.

Here most foods are cheap when raw. Sweet potatoes we get them at 0.50 cents.

We bought groceries for this month on the 4th and I didn't notice a drop in price for anything.

is it because of the pandemic?

@Janet357 The pandemic has made a lot of things scarce but the prices of those things hasn't gone up. The ONLY price we saw change from one month to the next was in the price of chicken. That almost doubled between one month and the next.

it will never come back. Sad but it is true. the only thing that does not increase is the salary of employees.

I haven't noticed anything being cheap these days. Seems like prices just keep rising here when it comes to food
