It’s Tommy Smothers weather! Yo-yo! Yo-yo! (For those who don’t know, Tommy Smothers, in addition to being brother Dick’s foil in the Smothers Brothers, was a master yo-yo champion in his younger days. He even had a yo-yo named after him. And did you really want to know that? Probably not. ) In the 40s yesterday and today, 20s tomorrow. How about a nice song with “star” in the title to ground you? Thanks again to @RasmaSandra for the theme. #5: Stars on the Water - Rodney Crowell And you’re thinking, didn’t she just use this song a couple of countdowns ago? Why, yes I did! Thanks for noticing! One of Rodney Crowell’s most-covered songs (ranks right up there with “Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight” and “‘Til I Gain Control Again”) was famously covered by Jimmy Buffett and George Strait, so it bought Crowell a meal or two. And it’s one of my favorite songs of his. Stars on the Water Written by Rodney Crowell Recorded by Rodney Crowell From Rodney Crowell, 1980 The night life’s shining on:
Another goody out of the pen of Rodney Crowell. I once bought the whole album and own it until today, it was the beginning of a strong relationship to Rodney...

I already knew about Tommy's Yo-Yo skills. But I would love it if you did a Top Ten Smother's Brothers Trivia series.

He’s written a number of big hits, mostly in country but Bob Seger did his song “Shame on the Moon.” Rodney used to be Johnny Cash’s son-in-law.

That’s because you didn’t have a kiddie crush on Tommy when you were five.
