Thursday with Coral: The Color Purple and a Simple Salmon Dinner

United States
January 13, 2022 8:49pm CST
I haven't done too much today. I was pretty much in a mood to only watch a couple of movies, the last one being "The Color Purple." It had been a very long time since I saw it, when it first came out. Of course, I bawled my eyes out. I didn't remember much of it, and certainly not how it ended. I am so glad that I watched it today. I fixed salmon, zucchini, and tomatoes for dinner tonight. It was simple, delicious, and a whole lot less expensive having it at home. I cooked it in a simple sear and steam with olive oil, butter, garlic, and dill. I cooked the zucchini and the tomatoes in the same pan. I have enough for dinner or lunch tomorrow. Photo is my own.

Here I am, going, “simple salmon met a pal mon.” You’re a bad influence on me, lady. I ordered A Man for All Seasons with my last Amazon order. One of my all-time favorite movies. I think I’ll watch that tomorrow night. Kiss Cooper for me!

@TheSojourner — I saw his post. I told him how gorgeous he is. Hope it doesn’t go to his head.

@TheSojourner - I always have salmon in the freezer. We have salmon at least once a week.

@LadyDuck I found some Pacific salmon the other day and picked up a small package. I prefer it to the Atlantic. I also have hake and cod in my freezer.

The dinner looks lovely. I can't remember if I saw the movie. I did read the book, though. I thought it was good.

I watched it not long ago, and like you I had not seen it in years and years. Of course I cried. Of course. Your salmon dinner looks delicious. I made chili last night, ate a bowl of it and plan to freeze what's left today. Then I can have it when I want a bowl.

I really think that Whoopi Goldberg did a great job in her role as Celie. I probably need to make a pot of chili sometime soon. I haven't had one in a while.

@TheSojourner I have become a firm soupaholic. I am always thinking of what kind I will make next!

@MarieCoyle I was hoping that I would get a ham soup bone from someone who had ham over the holidays. But, it seems like many threw them away. I'll use some bacon ends'n'pieces, and need to think about making split pea soup.

@TheSojourner I never do anything special, to fix meals. I use the same basic ingredients, fish or meat, vegetables, garlic, onion and olive oil. Everything turns out delicious!
