How do you take compliments?

Compliments are good to receive, but how do you take them? If, it's from someone I know, I will thank them graciously. If it's from someone, who apparently disliked me, I would take it with skepticism. Is the person sincere, or does he/she need something from me? How do you take compliments?

I express my gratitude and make corrections if the compliment is exaggerated or ignored others who need to be given credit. Just the same, I often feel embarassed at first.

Compliments make me blush if it sounds more like flattery, but if I get compliments for some real hard/tough work, I feel pleased

I am super self conscious so compliments always make me feel awkward. I appreciate them, but I always feel like people are lying. I know it isn't true, but it is just how my brain works!

If you know in your heart that you are deserving and it is not just flattery. Well , l would accept graciously and move on to another subject.

It depends on the situation. A compliment must show one of the qualities of the person and must be done, short and to the point. If it is too long, it is already flattery.
