Wooden cabin

Nairobi, Kenya
January 14, 2022 9:40am CST
When I first learned of wooden cabins, it made me have the thought of buying one some day. I think it is a good investment to buy it and place it somewhere convenient so I can live in it and never worry about paying rent anymore. Especially the movable wooden cabin.

Houses like that one are called "tiny houses" here and, if you build it yourself, costs around $30,000. That's still a lot cheaper than a regular size house costs, though.

What?? That is 3 million Kenyan shillings. Then buying is cheaper

@mildredtabitha I recently watched a video of a young man building his own tiny house. Of course, he wanted his on wheels so he could move it. (That part of it cost him $10,000 USD by itself.)

@DaddyEvil wow! That's so expensive. I like the movable one too. Although the one that is not movable and is small is $300. That's the cheapest I know. But it's not new, it's used and resold and I guess that is why it is cheaper.

Part of the concept appeals to me, but part of it appalls me. I love the peace, the quiet, being surrounded by nature, I hate the thought of a septic system, well water-if any and power, is that even something to consider? I think that I want modern cabin in the woods more then not.

That's a cute but lonely house. Can you not apply for a housing loan so you won't anymore rent?

I need to have a stable permanent job before I can apply for a housing loan. This will prove that I can be able to pay back for the loan

I love looking at this log cabin. Very unique, especially if it is placed in the middle of a forest like this, it is very beautiful and very calm to live in it.

@sinari and you get fresh air too. And you can have a little garden next to it filled with all kinds of vegetables. It's currently my dream to live in a place like that

@mildredtabitha Yes, I like it because it looks like living in a village, among green and unspoiled trees. Full of serenity. Perfect for a place to meditate.

It is the best investment, Many people want to go to the mountains, somewhere, more isolated, but they have nowhere to stay!

Yeah. I know living like this is many people's desire. Another way I was thinking of is buying a camping tent and camping air bed and other items and live in the mountains. I don't know if this would work for long but it's cheaper

@soymex yes I agree. But I'm not sure if it can shelter someone from big rains and storms. Won't the water get in?

@mildredtabitha recommend a tent that is quite spacious. You can always put it in the car and go somewhere else!

The wooden cabin looks great. I always like it especially when I read about it in a book, but I don't remember seeing any in reality. It'd be good if you can get one.

It would be nice. You might need to buy the land as well unless you could put it on a friend's place.

Yes. I was thinking of that too. I will need to buy a small land then build or buy the cabin. If I find a friend with big land and I'm allowed to place the cabin there, it will be cheaper
