40 out of 68 Test Matches won. - Leading the team to World Test Championship Finals (WTC) Vs New Zealand - Glorious wins at home and abroad including against Aussies, England and two tests vs South Africa at away venues Well, Unarguably the best Test Captain of India as per records. But perhaps things were not going his way. Perhaps he wasn't getting desired results like the recent 1-2 loss vs an inexperienced South African side Perhaps loss of focus. That could explain why Virat Kohli has resigned as the Test Captain of India. An era spanning almost 7 years since 2014-15 vs Aussies. Yet I hope this makes him primed up with more great innings as a batter! Source: Times Of India Sports News

When I logged in here in the morning, I checked your profile to see if you have made a discussion about the same. I was expecting this one from you. I would not say it came as a surprise or shock. It came on expected lines. We just hope that he has taken this decision after some thoughtful introspection and it's not an emotional one. It's a treat to watch him as a batsman and we hope to see many more of his incredible innings in the future.

@arunima25 Personally I feel that he should have remained the Test Captain for a few more months so that the new Captain- Rohit Sharma or K.L.Rahul would have got more time to acclimatise.

@arunima25 I think some news channels including Arnab Goswami's Republic TV channel had 30 minutes plus discussions on this matter! Good "Masala" for the news channels!

@arunima25 Arnab does talks calmer as well sometimes, like he did in a 40 odd minutes interview with Ravi Shastri back in November. Yet in between, cleverly, he asks some tough and biting questions. Ravi Shastri handled them well, but not everyone could be as expert at handling him.

winning game or loosing, these are 2 side of coin, so I think recent loss is not main cause for resigned.

@anil02 Yes critics are also pointing to the way things happened and what Kohli told in media after he was removed as the ODI captain.

@anil02 Yes and tough task especially for the recently started coach Rahul Dravid.

@anil02 Yes it is finally how the players play on the ground! Even Captain has a limited role.

I haven't been following world cricket like I did during the era of Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara.

@Kandae11 Perhaps you could now follow some of the new developments including Virat Kohli stepping down as the Indian test captain.

@Rashnag Yes let's hope so. Yet I think that the Indian test team would have a tougher time in the next few months.
