Do you think I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder? I am doing my dishes, doing my laundry, and am about to take my second January shower!

I was a victim of a pretty severe crime a few years ago and was diagnosed with PTSD. But it never occurred to me that I might have OCD. I am currently doing laundry (including a pillow case to make @Vandana happy) and my dishes. In addition, I am about to step into the shower for what is already my second 2022 shower. Would you describe me as a clean-freak? In any case, I have to head off to Guitar Center, so I'm gong to grab my clothes from the dryer, fold the t-shirts (in perfect thirds), and head out.

Yes. I would. Why do you have to take TWO showers in winter? Once in a while I take 2 in a day in summer.

Do you take them whether you need them or not? Heh. I actually changed my pants and underpants for this week as well.

Are you washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher? If by hand, do you arrange them by size on the dish drying rack. I do. They have to go from smallest to biggest.

Heh. I do put them in there so I think they will lean down and get some water from below. That will be $50.

@lovebuglena I do not arrange them from big to small. I only charged you $50 for therapy. (I used my dishwasher today.)

Do you fold the sleeves inside your shirt after the first fold? If so, you might seek professional help. I have a friend who charges $450 an hour to help people like you.

Surely you didn't mean you've only had two showers since Jan 1? Or is this your tongue in cheek again?

One of my sons is OCD. He is better with it as an adult than he was as a teen. He had a thing about germs, sometimes it kicks in really bad, and he will wash his hands until they are raw. If he takes his OCD med the way he is supposed to, he doesn't do that, thank goodness. There were some other stressors, he used to get freaked out if he found a hair on his clothes and the hair wasn't his. He would sanitize everything, doorknobs, etc. but thankfully that didn't last long. OCD is real and people who have it can really struggle. I am thankful for whatever med he takes for it, because it makes his life and everyone else's a lot easier.

I wonder what he takes. Anxiety disorders are, happily, among the most treatable psych issues.

@sharon6345 I think the sanitizing of hands before handling food is a smart thing to do.

I missed the OCD part. I am sort of obsessed with bathing myself. In the winter I take a shower in the morning, and often a bath at night..just for relaxation and warmth more than for cleanliness.

Actually, I really enjoy my showers. I never teach at the College without taking a shower before. It kind of wakes me up.

I'd say mine is mild, relatively speaking. I feel for those who went to war and saw their buddies killed. I did not experience anything like that.

Honesty, I do lecture about Anxiety in my classes. ANY change is stressful. We ALL like it when things are predictable and controllable. Any change (even something like a new Manager at work) can lead to a bit of anxiety.

In all honesty, when I'm working full-time I take a shower pretty much every morning. My shower laziness set in during Covid, I think.

Certainly not you are just doing what has to be done, I often fill up my sink with dishes ll day long and then I realize I must wash them itf I want to make any new food, Just things that must be done, I am in a dilemma with the arctic cold here and no hearing I cannot take a shower now or I'll get a very bad head cold,
