For today's topic I thought I'd touch on the music corner of myLot. I've seen some of you all popping up in discussions so I thought I'd toss my two cents in here.
So The Amazing Devil. They're a little indie/sort of folk music band in the UK which means most people probably haven't heard of them. I only discovered them because of my love for The Witcher series on Netflix where I discovered the talented man who plays Jaskier the bard (Joey Batey) in the show is also the lead of this band. He writes the music and lyrics for the songs along with input from his bestie and fellow vocalist Madeleine Hyland.
The music itself has an unusual sound to it. If you're not used to folk style it takes a hot minute to get into it. It's a little chaotic at times and the songs are all pretty lengthy compared to today's standards, but once you stop and actually listen, you may just find that this music connects to you on a level you wouldn't have foreseen.
As Joey said in a recent interview, he likes to write the kind of music one might listen to when they're sitting alone in a train station on a sad day. It's not generally happy stuff, but relatable while also letting you know that it's okay to have sad days or anxious days or to have had a hard life and bad relationships. It's okay to talk about the things that have hurt you in life, to struggle, and then to be proud when you stand back up. And there's a wit to them too that can make you laugh even while you're relating to the hardships in the songs.
My favorites right now of their songs are both on their most recent album called Ruin which was released this past October.
One is called Drinking Song for the Socially Anxious, which I swear to god was written for me. Every line in this song is so familiar to me as someone who suffers from social anxiety (but who is also a huge nerd) that I get a kick out of listening to it. It's essentially about what it feels like to be an anxious introvert who gets dragged to a party and how hard that is for us.
And then my other favorite song is called The Old Witch Sleep and the Good Man Grace. It's a long one coming in over eight minutes with lots of tempo and almost genre changes mid-song, but somehow it all works together. This one...I don't know. It's a lot more metaphorical. It's struggling with personal demons and toxic people bringing you down and sort of rising up to not let any of that destroy you. My very favorite line in any of TAD's songs is in this one. It goes "Sometimes I fall to pieces just to see what bits of me don't fit." To me that resonates strongly. I have bad days. We all do. It doesn't make us weak or cowardly, it just means we have to break down sometimes in order to get back up and start over.

So anyway, if you like those check out the rest of their albums on their bandcamp there. Then come talk to me about it because I love discussing how others may interpret the lyrics or how the music makes them feel.

My favourite at the moment isn't a band as such. My favourite is Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss orchestra. They play mainly classical music. Andre plays the violin. My favourite tune that they sometimes play is The Second Waltz by Dimitri Shostakovich.

I like classical, but I love remixes and mashup, lol. I'm a huge Lindsey Sterling fan, I've seen her in concert. Just a phenomenal performer all around!

@akruser13 The thing about classical music for me is that it's so relaxing. I was never really into classical music until I got into Andre Rieu, but now I love it.
