Roomie is a magnet, for scammers, skimmers and just bad people

So, for about the 5th time in 3 years someone has gotten their hands on roomie's bank debit card, and attempted to charge something on it. I don't get it. That has happened to me maybe once or twice several years ago. He thinks it could be the convenience store we both use. And it is a possibility I had someone try to use my PP number, and that was the last place I had used it at the gas pump.Also, I know sometimes they can put some kind of device on smaller ATM's and get your bank info that way. The little ones are not as secure as like a bank ATM.Fortunately, his bank denied the charge, and is sending him a new card. So, inconvenient though..and it makes you worry about using a card there.

Well bank ATM's are usually secure, but some of the rinky dink ones they have at places like gas stations or convenience stores are not.

@RubyHawk I bet he will find a way. I have talked to him about only shopping on secure sites online, since he has had trouble there too.

@JudyEv He likes buying sandwiches there or using the ATM. The other close by store has sandwiches but no ATM. There is a Dollar General store that lets you get cash back. It is a pretty minimal fee. like a buck. I just thought of that. I will tell him that when I see him.

With tap and pay becoming more popular, and useable everywhere I go, I don't have to worry about card theft. Although, I did have a card stolen. Got it blocked and taken care of. It's a pain when that happens.

It is..They don't offer that yet out here in the hinterlands though. Maybe at some point.

Yeah, they had a big data breach. I shopped there somewhere around that time. Like you though, no problems that I could see.

I really don't know. Thank goodness the bank's fraud department was on top of it though.
