Out to eat, it was delicious.

My son's wife went on a sister weekend. He was at loose ends, and called earlier to say Mom, I want to take you out for dinner. At first I said no, it's cold and it's so expensive to go out. He said he had 2 gift cards burning a hole in his pocket, so off we went to Texas Roadhouse.
I had a house salad, and my entree was grilled shrimp and the smallest steak they had on the menu. I knew it was still going to be too big, and it was. I ate the shrimp and salad, and brought most of the steak home for another meal. He demolished a steak, shrimp, and mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as a salad and dessert. He worked on some things at home all day and didn't eat much of anything, I guess. It must have tasted good to him, I don't know when I've seen him eat that much. But we had a good time, just some one-on-one mom and son time, which was nice. No kids no daughter in law. Felt kind of weird at first but we had a nice time laughing and chatting and eating. He says we need to do that once in awhile, and he told his wife she needed to take her mom out sometime, just the two of them.
What a nice idea. My tummy and my heart are happy this evening.

His heart is truly good and very big.
I am sorry to say he didn't get that from his father. I think he is just a good man, all of the kids turned out well, and I am so thankful. Thank you.

He includes me often, much more often before the pandemic. Sometimes he brings dinner here. His brother does the same, but does not live quite as close. I know I am very fortunate that they seem to want to spend time with me. Thank you.

That was nice you guys got time alone & enjoyed yourselves. I haven't seen my mom in awhile due to family issues but hopefully things will clear up & I'll get to go out with her here soon, time is precious so enjoy it while you can.

He said he wanted to do that again the next time his wife has to be gone somewhere. He has never been a person who likes to go to bars anyway, he has the very occasional drink but not very often, so he doesn't party like some do. He said he was going to suggest to his wife that she take her mom somewhere, just the two of them, maybe one night and then he can take me somewhere. I thought that was a good idea.

I love all the grands a lot of course and spending time with them is so special. But maybe the adults tend to forget one on one time can be very special, too. Thanks.

It's rather cold to eat outside right now. We went to a place with a reservation that serves people and distances them apart and seems to be very careful. We are fully vaccinated and boosted. Wore masks and did everything we could to be careful, so I hope that's enough. We just don't go very many places right now.
