Day 224
Psalm 119
Psalm 119:153 RESH. Consider my affliction and deliver me; for I do not forget Your law.
154 Plead my cause, and deliver me; quicken me according to Your Word.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked; for they seek not Your statutes.
156 Great are Your tender mercies, O LORD; quicken me according to Your judgments.
157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies, yet I do not decline from Your testimonies.
158 I beheld the transgressors and grieved; because they kept not Your word.
159 Consider how I love Your precepts; quicken me, O LORD, according to Your lovingkindness.
160 Your Word is true from the beginning; and every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.
What is your main concern? What has your attention? Do you plan each detail of your life? Many things occupy people’s thoughts during a day or lifetime. When trouble happens, you try to find a way out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It feels like you’re playing Russian roulette with your life and circumstances.
The psalmist looked at his life and asked God to consider his troubles and deliver him from those who came against him. He asked God to deliver him and give him life according to His Word. He didn’t ask God to deliver him based on his merit, but because he meditated on God’s Word. He pleaded with God to see his cause and help him.
As Christians, do you expect God’s help because you accepted Him as Savior and Lord, but then did nothing with your salvation?
2 Chronicles 7:14 IF My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; THEN will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
John 15:7 IF you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you will, and it will be done unto you.
God won’t do whatever you ask Him because you’re His child. You need to spend time with Him. You need to meditate on His Word. You need to pray and seek His face and His will for your life. When you do, THEN He will bring you out of your troubles. He will defend you against your enemies. He will bring you to a place of rest and safety.
Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Call on God. Rest on His promises. Lean on Him in times of trouble, and He will restore your soul, defend you, and plead your cause just as He did for the psalmist.
Let’s pray: Father, help me seek You first in everything I do. Let me consider Your ways instead of mine as I look to You to lead me through this life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
