I somehow wound up on a mailing list for a website called Word Genius. They send me an obscure word every morning and then define it.
Sometimes, I just delete. Occasionally, I actually already know the word. If the word sounds vaguely familiar, or just plain interesting, I check it out.
Today's word was "Graminivorous" Because I know what "...ivorous" means, I continued reading.
Part of speech: adjective
Origin: Latin, mid-18th century
(Of an animal) feeding on grass.
Examples of Graminivorous in a sentence:
"Most of the farm animals were graminivorous."
"Meredith’s research studies the effects of a graminivorous diet."
Of course, I thought of Hindus and their beloved cows first. I tried to think of sentences using alliteration.
"Vanny's cows, in their graminivorous gratitude, gobbled up the grass I gave them."
Then I realized that, as a horse, I am primarily a graminivour.
In any case, have you heard of this site? Would you click on some of their words?

we all know you are not a horse
The cows, sheep and goats at my rural home are graminivorous. I'm glad to learn a new word

Never heard of this word. Doesn't seem as easy to pronounce.

@lovebuglena Pretty close. Actually, a graminivore IS a kind of herbivore. They just happen to prefer grass.
