Another month down.

For the past two months, my husband, George, has been counting down the months before he can retire. He's finally reached a burn out point in his life, and he can't keep working for Pizza Hut for much longer. He's just not happy. He's going to continue to work however, until he reaches 62. He worked long and hard and wants to ensure he gets what he's owed. The weather warmed up nicely, too. So, that's a plus. The new couch is working out great, and Mama cat is keeping me company on it. Been a while since I've worked in the living room so that's the plan. This computer has a decent charge, and I'll plug it in later tonight I'm sure.

I retired from the State of Texas at 51. I did have to buy 4 years, but anything to get me the H*LL outta that job. 2 months before I turned 62 I went to Social security and said I wanted to claim it. The lady asked why I retired and I told her that between the new supervisor I already had problems with and the fibromyalgia making it hard to work full time, I had to leave. I did say that I had worked part time doing home health until I was 60. She asked if I had considered disability, and I replied that I knew of other people with much worse fibro than I had not being able to get it. It might give me more, but taking it at 62 would be a sure thing. I'm 68 now.

@kaylachan I don't blame him. My wife was trying until she got so sick. She retired on disability at the end of June 2019. She hadn't even turned 59 yet.

@ElicBxn Yeah. We don't really want to go down the disability rabbit hole. He's far to active for that.

I'm glad it worked out for you. My husband is hanging in there. He doesn't want to lose what he worked so hard for.

Yes, I completely agree with you. This year seems to be flying by, and we're looking at a short month ahead, too. Winter is flying past, too. Although that seems to be dragging because it seems to have just gotten started for us in FLorida.

It's tough if you don't enjoy your job at all any more. I hope he is able to enjoy a long retirement when the time comes!

I admit I worry about his meantle health when the time comes. We all reach burn out in what we do, and have to take a break. That's just part of being human. I hope retirement is the break he needs. Although, he's still fairly active so I don't know.

I know how it feels, like you’re just dragging yourself to work.

Yes. He calls it the dot of doom when he has to set the alarm.
