Too cute to throw out

@Fleura just posted about fixing the zip on her daughter’s boots. Thanks for the mention, Fleur. I had told her about my tote bag where the slider has broken off, leaving a very sharp but tiny piece that had held the slider. Apart from the zip, the bag is perfectly good and has a cute cat on the front so I’m reluctant to throw it out. I also feel that I shouldn’t donate it. Thanks to Fleur’s post, I’m now going to put it away until I come up with something else that I have to throw out but which has a zip. Maybe I’ll be able to ‘do a Fleur’ and resurrect my quirky bag.

@JudyEv Check on your shopping trips and maybe you can find a new one for it.

I think so too. It's a shame the zip is now faulty.

@wolfgirl569 I'm not a good enough sewer to put it in. But I have a friend who might do it for me.

If I can't fix it, I might just use ti as a storage bag in a cupboard.

That is so cute! I definitely would take it to a craft shop to get a replacement zipper or have someone repair it for me.

There are just some things you cannot throw out, Many moons ago my husband brought me a T-shirt I really love from London, I wore that one until it got a hole in it, And guess what? Love it so much and always thought I would fix it one day I still have it today,

I think it's fine to save some things. It's when you start to save every single thing that it starts to be an issue.

I just made one of my favourite T-shirts into a cushion cover (it's one of those from 'The Mountain' with a picture of moose on it)

I don't throw things out without trying really hard to repurpose them.

Is the zip absolutely necessary? You could always put some tape over the sharp bit to protect your fingers.

Vince could snip off the sharp bit and I could use it without the zip - maybe for groceries or library books.

I have a purse with a broken zipper I am reluctant to part with. I also have one that is extremely cute, but not very useful as it is open. I thought of using a pin on it to hold it shut, but still I am afraid of losing the cell or something else important, I have decided to use it as a tote. (Not that I really need anymore of them) It is so pretty though I need to keep it.

@JudyEv You'll figure it out. The kitty in the pick looks a bit like Nico and a bit nuts, just like him!

I'll keep it till I find a zip slider. I've kept Fleur's instructions on how to repair it.

Your quirky bag is cute. That's a good idea, you can always replace the zip later. A zip costs $0.30 here

great idea. I used to do that many years ago when young and able Even used to save the material because it would come in handy as cleaning rags or better still scraps for quilts or covers.

Thanks for the mention : ) I can see why you don't want to toss that. Of course a simpler solution would just be to remove the zip altogether and just use it that way. Or you could fit a new zip, it's much easier in a bag than a boot!

@JudyEv I see the cat on the bag. Keep it if you want to and get the zipper fixed if you can or can you use it without the zipper being fixed? If you can use it then keep it.
