February 1, Chinese New Year just around the corner. Times Supermarket, usually has gao for Chinese New Year. I wanted a small gao. I got the last one! Lucky me!

And sweet. Blood draw soon, so I'll freeze it after displaying for Chinese New Year. Eat it after blood draw. Gao: Approximate Nutrient Analysis per serving: 240 calories, 8 g fat, 4 g saturated fat, 0 mg cholesterol, 10 mg sodium, 41 g carbohydrate, 0 g fiber, 22 g sugar, 2 g protein

@RebeccasFarm Ok. It's sweet & like soft licorice, so it's an acquired taste. Maybe the ethnic section of supermarket. It's a Chinese New Year, rice cake. Ingredients: 6 ti leaves 1 pound brown brick sugar 1/2 cup raw sugar 2 1/2 cups hot water 1 pound mochiko (glutinous rice flour), sifted 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 dried red date 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds

@oahuwriter Tikoy is a sticky round cake for Chinese New Year too. I think they are the same

Very sweet. It's Chinese rice cake, mochi. Ingredients: Non-stick cooking spray 1 ¼ cup water 1 (16-ounce) package won tong (Chinese brown sugar, available in Chinatown) or 1 (16-ounce) box dark brown sugar 1 (13.5-ounce) can coconut milk ¼ cup canola oil 1 (16-ounce) box mochiko (mochi flour) 1 ½ tablespoons sesame seeds toasted 8 red dates

It is, good & sweet! After blood draw, is when I'll enjoy it. Freezing it.
