The movie, Psycho, was the 1960 horror film that Alfred Hitchcock produced and directed after his famous North by Northwest. Psycho was done in black and white and was based on a book of the same name written by Robert Bloch in 1959. Hitchcock did Psycho on a small budget and used the same crew he had on this television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Psycho was nominated for four Academy Awards which Best Supporting Actress and Best Director were two.
Later A & E did a series called Bates Hotel which ran for 5 seasons beginning in 2013 and running until 2017. It was actually a prequel to the original movie and showed how Norman Bates' psyche unravels. It showed the deep and intricate relationship between his mother too.

People were afraid to shower for years after this movie came out. I remember seeing it back then and was shocked! I never watched Bates Hotel.

Bates Hotel made me mad. I watched it all the way through and the ending was as if the writers had no imagination.

It was uniques but I think the Hannibal trilogy was better.
