I don't make my disability a secret, but it's not something I bring up in everyday conversation either, because I don't want to dwell on the things that slow down, but when I was talking to.my friend Rosis, I came to the realization that she didn't even know that I had a disability and honestly that's okay, because I don't want others to see the disability and the person it's the opposite really, and sadly Ableism is all to alive and well.
There's a time when I was terrified of what this condition would do to me, and there are moments I have my frustrations but time has taught me to live my life to its fullest.

My wife is visually impaired. However, when the roommate first met her at a job it took her over 4 hours to realize it. It wasn't until my wife picked up a piece of paper and held it about 2 inches from her nose that she realized it.
She asked: "____ are you blind?"
We get a good laugh out of it to this day.

Oh Michelle, I really can't say I understand what you feel. But I'm sure you are able to portray your inner beauty plenty, or you wouldn't have realised this late that your friend is unaware of your situation. She didn't know about it not because you didn't say. You have obviously said a lot for you guys to be friends, and yet she has definitely focused on the person you are.
