Day 234 Psalm 142:1 (Maschil of David; A Prayer when he was in the cave.) I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication. 2 I poured out my complaint before him; I showed before him my trouble. 3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me. 4 I looked on my right hand and beheld, but there was no man that would know me; refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. 5 I cried unto You, O LORD. I said, You art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. 6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low. Deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I. 7 Bring my soul out of prison, so I may praise Your name. The righteous shall compass me about, for You will deal bountifully with me. Have you been in so much trouble you didn’t know where help would come from, who you could turn to, or how anything good could come from your situation? David was there. He was in a cave. The Philistines were outside, waiting to kill him. David could only turn to one person, God. He knew God could and would help him when no one else would or could. Are you in a cave? Do you know who waits outside? As Christians, you know Satan waits and watches. He wants your soul. He looks for a chink in your armor so he can take you back into his fold. You need to turn to God as David did. You need to put your full trust in His salvation. Only then will Satan flee from you. When Jesus died on Calvary, He won the war for your salvation. However, Satan hasn’t given up. He brings trouble your way. He does everything he can to make you forget your salvation. Every trouble Satan brings is a battle in the war Jesus won. What is your battle? Is it finances, unemployment, rebellious children, your colleagues, marriage, fidelity? What has Satan brought between you and your commitment to Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord? John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. When Israel entered the Promised Land, Joshua put a choice before Israel to declare themselves for God or the gods of the land they came to possess. Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Who do you serve? David served God. He turned to Him in every trouble. Jesus told you Satan’s plan for your life. It’s up to you to choose to walk with God and turn to Him when Satan comes against you or to walk in the world, forsaking God and Jesus, your Savior. Let’s pray: Father, the battle belongs to You. Jesus already won the war on the cross. Help me turn to You when Satan comes against me, knowing You will come to my aid. Rescue me from Satan’s attack. Help me declare as Joshua did, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 2 February 2022 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay.
