Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog emerged from his burrow on a cold Wednesday morning and saw his shadow, declaring there would be six more weeks of winter.
Punxsutawney Phil made his annual prediction as another major winter storm is bringing heavy snow, ice and freezing rain to a large portion of the country.
So there you have it. A yearly prediction that we will have six more weeks of winter.

What happens on those groundhog days where it's cloudy and there is no shadow to be seen? Does that count as not seeing his shadow?

@CarolDM I think what you're getting now will be coming to us in Florida this weekend.

I can live with six more weeks of winter as long as it does not break any water pipes.

@CarolDM One thing not to have electrical power but no water means no bathing or washing clothes for a few days.

I saw that on the news this morning. Then they showed the groundhog for Wisconsin and he declared an early spring. Considering the lack of snow in the forecast, all of it missing us, and heading to the northeast, I'd say he's probably right. So six more weeks of winter in the northeast and an early spring in Wisconsin.

We are really paying for that mild November and December. I saw Phil come out of his burrow...he didn't want to be held and was constantly trying to get away. Poor Phil. I'm glad it's only once a year. At least he gets spoiled the rest of the year.

We'd have 6 weeks+ even if he didn't see his shadow, lol. But it is always interesting to wait and see what happens. I'll be so glad when winter is over!
