Houses with Basements

Hello folks. What is up in your part of the world? Anyway, I've this topic in mind about houses with basements. I live in a tiny apartment, so this topic is out for me. But for those of you who have basements, how do you guys decorate, and what do you put in those? Also, do you find basements to be more creepier than say, the attics? Share your thoughts. We have a basement. As Switzerland is a "mountain country", most places are on hills, so our basement is closed on three sided, but it has an opening on the front, that makes it very nice and not at all creepy.

@ihasaquestion - The light come inside from the large French door, I would say that it is the favorite part of my house.

That is just so nice and gorgeous I certainly can picture it already. I agree that having a main entrance doesn't make it seem creepy at all.

Here it is hardly to see a house with a basement. Since today the real estates are so expensive, it will be nicer to have a basement as it means your house is bigger.

No it is not usual here to have basements. I think it's really a creepy place. We would be putting unused things there maybe

I've never lived in a house with a basement, I suppose they would be useful for storage. I wouldn't fancy living down there though.

Me too, but a lot of people have converted their basements into a man cave or a hobby room and those transformations certainly looked great.

Houses here can have both attics and basements. Some homeowners choose to finish one or both of those spaces for living or storage. It just depends on personal taste. In one house I owned, we finished out the attic as a gaming room. We had a pool table and a bar with stools in it and invited friends over once a week for a gaming night. In another house I owned, we left the basement unfinished and simply used it for storage.

Most modern homes and vintage ones have your decor of styling the attics and basements. I love looking at nice decor and that includes basements too. But I guess using basements for storage seem like a practical approach.
