An elusive capture - with my camera

I took this photo today on our way home from my brother-in-law’s place. I’ve been wanting to get a photo of it for ages but there is nowhere to stop on the highway so I had to take it through the window as we drove past. Today, I actually remembered to keep my camera on my lap and at the ready. Under the circumstances, the photo turned out quite well although I had to crop it a lot. I thought it was very well done (the sculpture that is). I’m not sure what birds they are meant to be and I couldn’t find any information on them. We have friends coming for lunch today. They used to have five acres of garden near us in Donnybrook but have now downsized to a small block in a northern Perth suburb.

Kool shot. I thought those were live birds and the first thing that came to mind were storks but I've never actually seen a stork.

They might be herons but they do look like storks too.

Isn't there a way you could get to the area where this is so you can get a closer look?

Such a great catch. Perfect timing. They look like a type of Heron maybe. Was this close to water maybe?

I was really pleased to find out I'd got a photo I could use. I'm not aware of much water in the area but there easily could be.

Thanks. These were on the end of metal poles so at least they couldn't escape any further.

Great capture! They look like herons to me. Were you close to a body of water? They do love water.

They could well be herons. As long as they're not what they call 'bin chickens'.

They look very much like the herons that we see along the waterways and lake shores. Good job catching that image. Drive-by photos are hard!

That is a great photo shot and well captured! They looked more like real birds. May be the sculptor is trying to show the early flight birds who are thought to be the living descendants of Dinosaurs!!

You did well with it, all things considered. Capturing an image while moving, isn't always easy.

It seems strange that they're just stuck out there just off a major highway. Now I'm on a mission to try to find out more about them.

@JudyEv It’s a beautiful sculpture. We have some similar birds land in the creek in early spring. They have a pinkish coloring and have those long legs and long necks.
