Ummm, WHAT?!?!?!?

I hope my husband does not see the post that I just seen, because his humor would cause him to do this, then I'd have to file for divorce. Seems like the Bronx Zoo is offering to let you name a cockroach for your loved one for Valentines Day. They've been doing this for 11 years with heavy success. "Roses and chocolates come and go, but roaches last an eternity, just like our love!" Is what Suzie, a satisfied customer of the roach naming said about another purchase for her boyfriend. WOW!

@NanaMc I agree. They scare me. I cringe when I see one.

@LeaPea2417 Funny story. Or maybe not. Guess it depends on who you ask. My daughter had babysat once for a couple with an 8 year old son. They had a cockroach problem. The boy didn't typically live with his father and was there only on weekends. For some reason my daughter told the boy they were special kinds of crickets who couldn't jump and the boy ran around the house and gathered all the "crickets" he could and presented them to his dad when he got home.

A very creative marketing tool for Valentine's Day by the Bronx Zoo marketing team.

My daughter would probably like this. Is the giant cockroaches from Madagascar or some other tropical place?

As a one-time exterminator, roaches will always be the enemy.

Roaches freak me out. I will glad pass on this. When I first moved to NYC I lived in an apartment that had roaches. I remember sleeping on the floor (before we got furniture) and there would be a roach crawling next to me. Yuck! Never again! I once went to school and a roach crawled out of my bookbag.

@NanaMc I once went to the library, took a book off the shelf I thought of maybe borrowing, and a roach crawled out of it. I decided I won't be taking that book out after all.

@lovebuglena I watch for that too. And check for roach droppings, especially in the seams of the books. I work hard keeping my home roach free and don't want to accidentally bring one home. They're so hard to get rid of once you get them.

OMG, my best friend had a roach crawl out of her purse when I was in the hospital, laboring with my son. We both froze in horror but recovered and howled in laughter.

There are probably more named after exes than current lovers.
