Today, my niece is done doing her DIY face mask. She did some basic sewing styles manually. I remembered my days of doing it in my primary and secondary schools before. I must admit that I do no like it. Here I am giving some tips to her. This is the final outcome of her school project. It is timely and relevant to have this kind of project at present. Are you good at sewing manually?

I am better at sewing manually than I am by machine. When I was at school, the boys in our class did woodwork and metalwork while the girls did cooking and sewing.

I never attempted to use a sewing machine. During my elementary and high school days, the projects need to do the things you mentioned by both genders.

@JudyEv I also think so. I humbly say that I do mend my own torn clothes.

@Shavkat I think both genders should learn as much as possible about practical tasks.

I have not tried the sewing machine. You might not believe it. I made a jacket by hand sewing during my high school.

Yes, I am very good at sewing manually, better than using a sewing machine. Boys in our country did not learn to sew, only girls.

It seems that my country embraced gender equality so soon. I cannot even understand why our teachers need to do this. I even make a varsity jacket by sewing manually in high school.

@Shavkat - Boys learnt to do wood works, metal works, to do electric repairs. I think it makes more sense.

I can feel you. If it is not only my projects before at school, I will not able to learn it. So I guess the teachers achieved their goals for me to learn it.
